<p>1. A reference to the metabolic cost in Patagonia sea lions is missing in the first paragraph of the discussion. The following sentence should be corrected: The estimated resting metabolic rates were similar to those measured in Steller sea lions and California sea lions in water (Hurley and Costa, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">2001</xref>; Fahlman et al., <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">2008</xref>, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B3">2013</xref>) and Steller sea lions in air (Rosen and Trites, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B5">2000</xref>).</p>
<p>The correct sentence should be: The estimated resting metabolic rates were similar to those measured in Patagonia sea lions, Steller sea lions, and California sea lions in water (Hurley and Costa, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B4">2001</xref>; Fahlman et al., <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B2">2008</xref>, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B3">2013</xref>; Dassis et al., <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">2012</xref>) and Patagonia and Steller sea lions in air (Rosen and Trites, <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B5">2000</xref>; Dassis et al., <xref ref-type="bibr" rid="B1">2012</xref>).</p>

A typo was detected in the reported mass-specific metabolic rate (s <inline-formula><mml:math id="M1"><mml:mrow><mml:mover><mml:mi>V</mml:mi><mml:mo>&#x000B7;</mml:mo></mml:mover></mml:mrow></mml:math></inline-formula>O<sub>2</sub>) and the reported value for s <inline-formula><mml:math id="M2"><mml:mrow><mml:mover><mml:mi>V</mml:mi><mml:mo>&#x000B7;</mml:mo></mml:mover></mml:mrow></mml:math></inline-formula>O<sub>2</sub> should be 53 mL O<sub>2</sub> &#x02022; min<sup>&#x02212;1</sup> &#x02022; kg<sup>&#x02212;0.6</sup> or 8.6 &#x000B1; 1.9 mL O<sub>2</sub> &#x02022; min<sup>&#x02212;1</sup> &#x02022; kg<sup>&#x02212;1</sup>.</p>
