This study utilized bibliometric analysis to describe the development, current research progress, hotspots, and the emerging trend in this filed. Methods: We retrieved publications about endoscopy application in EGC from 2012 to 2022 on Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). We mainly used CiteSpace (version 6.1.R3) and VOSviewer (version 1.6.18) to perform the collaboration network analysis, co-cited analysis, co-occurrence analysis, cluster analysis and burst detection. Results: A total of 1333 publications were included. Overall, the publications and average citations per document per year increased annually. Among 52 countries/regions, Japan contributed the most in publications, citations and H-index, followed by South Korea and China. National Cancer Center consists of two parts in Japan and South Korea, and ranked first among institutions in publications, citations and average citations. Yong Chan LEE was the most productive author, and Ichiro Oda had the highest citations. As for cited author, Gotoda Takuji had the highest citations and centrality. Among journals, Surgical Endoscopy and Other Interventional Techniques had the most publications, and Gastric Cancer had the highest citations and H-index. Among all publications and cited references, the paper of Smyth E. C et al. and of Gotoda T et al. had the highest citation, respectively. By keywords co-occurrence and cluster analysis, 1652 author keywords were categorized to 26 clusters, we divided the clusters into 6 groups. The largest and newest clusters were endoscopic submucosal dissection and artificial intelligence, respectively. Conclusions: Over the last decade, endoscopic application in EGC developed steadily. Japan and Korea contributed the most, and China was developing with a striking speed from an initial stage of this field. Among countries, institutions and authors, lacking partnership was common and should be optimized. Endoscopic submucosal dissection was the focus of this field, while the artificial intelligence was the frontier. Further research should value artificial intelligence application in endoscopy for EGC clinical diagnose and treatment.
