Carotid stent implantation is a widely employed treatment, but in-stent restenosis (ISR) is a dangerous postoperative complication. Many factors cause in-stent restenosis. Previous studies have indicated that stent type, drug use, patient-specific risk factors, levels of various factors in the patient’s body, surgical procedures, and vascular physiological anatomy can all contribute to its occurrence. This review summarizes the key risk factors for ISR following CAS and briefly discusses related findings in intracranial artery stenting, aiming to inform clinical decision-making in neurointerventional practice.
