<body>
<p>The Journal retracts the 2023 article cited above.</p>
<p>Following publication, concerns were raised regarding the data published in this article. Data in Table 1 of this article overlapped with data published in:</p>
<p>Pati SG, Panda F, Jena S, Sahoo DK and Paital B (2022) Effects of soil trace metals, organic carbon load and physicochemical stressors on active oxygen species metabolism in Scylla serrata sampled along the Bay of Bengal in Odisha state, India. Front. Environ. Sci. 10:994773. doi: 10.3389/fenvs.2022.994773</p>
<p>Pati SG, Paital B and Sahoo DK (2024) Allantoin and tissue specific redox regulation in mud crab Scylla serrata under varied natural water physico&#x2011;chemical parameters. Water 16(3):480. doi: 10.3390/w16030480</p>
<p>The authors failed to provide a satisfactory explanation during the investigation, which was conducted in accordance with Frontiers&#x2019; policies. As a result, the data and conclusions of the article have been deemed unreliable and the article has been retracted.</p>
<p>This retraction was approved by the Chief Editors of Frontiers in Environmental Science and the Chief Executive Editor of Frontiers. The authors agree to this retraction.</p>
